Rockwood School District's Community Education Girls Recreational Fall Volleyball League is a popular program in the district. The program affords participants the opportunity to learn fundamental volleyball skills through practice and match competition. Separate leagues will be established for each grade level, depending upon sufficient enrollment. If necessary, teams will be grouped in grades 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8. If a parent feels that the child’s skill level warrants the participant to play up, they may be allowed to play up one grade level after approval is obtained from the Community Education office.
If for some reason your child’s team does not have a coach, your enrollment fee will be fully refunded. Helpers are also needed to keep score and be line judges.
Practices: Practices may be held up to two times per week, each for one hour and fifteen minutes as determined by the coach at the coaches meeting. Practice times are 4:45, 6, or 7:15 p.m. and will start the week of Aug. 30 at Rockwood middle schools(no practice on Labor Day, Monday, September 6).
Games: Each team will be scheduled to play ten matches: (2) matches (minimum of one) will be played each Saturday beginning September 18 (with the last match scheduled for November 6, depending on number of teams) and will be played at schools in the Rockwood School District.
Parents MUST provide transportation for their child to and from practices and matches.
A team shirt will be provided to each player, and it is hers to keep. All players must wear tennis shoes, and provide the balance of equipment needed.
Volunteer Coaches are Needed: Volunteer coaches and assistant coaches are critical to ensuring the ongoing success of Community Education’s Youth Sports Programs. The number of volunteer coaches determines the number of participants that can be accepted into this program.
